VERBAL AGGRESSION ON SOCIAL MEDIA INSTAGRAM AND POLITICAL DISENGAGEMENT ON VOTERS IN INDONESIA

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat pengaruh agresi verbal terhadap political disengagement pada Pemilih Pemula. Penelitian ini memiliki desain penelitian kuasi eksperimen. Partisipan penelitian ini adalah 152 mahasiswa (18 yang secara acak dikelompokkan menjadi kelompok eksperimen dan kontrol dengan teknik matching dan random assignment. Partisipan kelompok eksperimen mendapatkan perlakuan untuk melihat unggahan foto mengandung agresi verbal di Instagram sedangkan partisipan kelompok kontrol tidak mendapat perlakuan apapun. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya perbedaan signifikan political disengagement partisipan, di mana partisipan yang terpapar dengan konten agresi verbal di kelompok eksperimen menunjukkan kadar political disengagement yang lebih tinggi daripada yang tidak terpapar dikelompok kontrol (t=2.23 , p=.027). Studi ini dapat menjadi langkah awal pemahaman terhadap agresi verbal di media sosial dan ketidak terikatan terhadap politik terhadap pemilih di Indonesia.
